If you’re starting a new business picking a new name can be a hard process. You will want one you can get the domain for and just about all good domain names are taken. If you ask the owner to sell many will give you an outrageous price like $100,000. There are a few site though that sell domain names at a reasonable price. DomainHero.com has many 6 Letter .com’s with an average of about $2,500. Or, 5-Letters for around $3,000 in their company name generator. They offer domains like:

BrandBucket would be an alterantive site with reasonable price. They have tons of great .com’s with an average of about $3,500. Just don’t waste time on their “Premium Name” section. Most of those names are way overpriced “.ly” names. Naming your site with a “.ly” will just lead to an annoying life. This is how your conversations will go:

Potential Customer: Spell it

Business Owner: “F” “A” “S” “T” “DOT” “L” “Y”

Potential Customer: Okay, so it’s Fast dot “L” “Y” dot com?

Business Owner: No just Fast dot “L” “Y”

Potential Customer: What does “L” “Y” stand for?

Business Owner: Well, it actually stands for the general public of Libya, but that has nothing to do with my site. I sell in the USA

Potential Customer: So you sell in the USA, but are based in Libya?

Business Owner: No I’m based in the USA and sell in the USA

Potential Customer: That’s weird, how often do you have to explain this?

Business Owner: <sadly>Every day of my life

Potential Customer: <just looks at you like you’re not the brightest>

Lastly,  you can search on the Godaddy Auction site. You will have other people bidding against you, but you may be able to get a great deal on a domain name.
